Challenge Day 11

So I’m still a day ahead. I’m going to go back to Koi for a bit while I also paint my more complicated still life that I have on tap. This Koi was kind of an assignment from my little sister. She suggested that I paint from inside the water looking at the Koi and the sky beyond. Easier said than done little sister. Especially since I have no photos like that. As my artist friend Pauline Dickson says “You can’t paint a painting from your head. It will just look like crap. You have to have a reference”. Normally, in a case like this it would be Google Images to the rescue, but … no such luck. There were very few suitable images. So I cobbled something together. Not a complete success, but not the complete failure I thought I’d end up with.
