Life as an Artist

A Portrait of an Artist

I think I was born an artist. At any rate, I had my first lesson (outside of school) at 8 years old. I was fortunate to have parents who encouraged my love of art and had arty friends who could teach me.

I studied Art and Literature in college and went on to become a graphic artist for a government contractor. It was very boring work. I opened my own photography studio, “The Feminine Mystique” and created boudoir portraits for many wonderful women. I had a fallow period when gardening was my most creative endeavor. Finally, I returned to painting in 2007.

I’ve had “Shared Visions” since about 2010. Although the the act of creating art is most often a private one, that doesn’t mean we don’t want to share. For me the act of sharing it is as important as creating it. I don’t want my creations to spend their lives on MY walls or worse in my closet. I want them to land on OTHER walls.

Check out my work and think what any given piece would say about YOU if it was on YOUR walls.
